Can A-1 Collection Service Sue Me or Garnish My Wages?

It is illegal for a debt collector to make empty threats to sue you or garnish your wages. It is also unlikely that either A-1 Collection would sue you for a debt you may not owe or they cannot validate. However, debt collection agencies are known to have summoned debtors to court and garnish wages after a default judgement. Contacting an attorney BEFORE this could possibly happen would be a smart move. We’ve helped thousands of consumers fight back against unscrupulous debt collection harassers. Can you help me file a No Fee Lawsuit against A-1 Collection Service?

Absolutely. You can sue a debt collector. Here are some Cases:

Here is a sample complaint for A1 Collections of Colorado:

In 2018, a complainant claimed that beginning in March he/she underwent surgery with General Surgeons of Western Colorado (“General Surgeons”) and was insured. In June 2018, the complainant, “had a follow-up surgery with General Surgeons” again as an insured patient. They had paid for any and all, “extraneous costs/bills from General Surgeons” and claimed to have paid off all bills from the hospital by August 2018. It was at this time that the complainant began receiving collection notices from A-1 Collections and began to inform the collections company that he/she, “did not owe General Surgeons any more money”. Instead they, “paid an extra $100.00 to General Surgeons on-line to which they responded” to her saying that he/she no longer owed any more money. Everything was squared up and paid but since October the client claims, “A-1 has been hounding me for the bill that I had paid in full from my March surgery and then they started adding on interest and added derogatory remarks that still exist on my credit reports”. It was later on March 4th, 2019 that the complainant, “sent A-1 a summary of the payments made to General Surgeons, provided by General Surgeons showing zero balances”.

Additionally, here is a sample complaint for A-1 Collections/Waterfall Revenue Systems of New Jersey:

A complainant came to an agreement on May 8 with A1 Collections to pay a medical bill of “$967.44 in 2 installments”. They “paid $467.44 on May 8 and $500 on May 14”. The complainant explains that they have, “requested a confirmation/balance paid in full letter since May 14 and called the company 3 times but still has not received the confirmation letter”. The employees stated that they, “would do it immediately” but by June 30 the complainant was still waiting. The complainant spoke to two employees over time, with the last call occurring on June 30, in which one employee, “very rudely and unprofessionally told the complainant, “don’t give me any guff” and hung up on them. All that the complainant was requesting was a receipt of the transaction, claiming that the company, “has not been able to fulfill the simplest of transactions in providing me with a receipt”.
