The BBB lists Debt Recovery Solutions as a collection agency. Buzzfile estimates DRS’s annual revenue at $2.1 million and the size of its headquarters staff at 18 employees.

Who does Debt Recovery Solutions collect for?

Debt Recovery Solutions accepts set accounts of any size and services accounts in most asset classes. DRS collects on a contingency basis, which means that the business makes money based on a proportion of what it collects. DRS can also be a debt purchaser, and has been certified with DBA International since February 2016. Reportedly, the bureau bids aggressively on high volume, aged accounts. Debt buying involves purchasing considerable quantities of billed accounts for a small portion of the debt owed with the intent of collecting the whole amount. Both contingency collection and debt purchasing leave the business highly motivated to pursue collections with the “persistent” attempts the agency describes.

Can Debt Recovery Solutions Sue Me or Garnish My Wages?

It is illegal for a debt collector to make empty threats to sue you or garnish your wages. It is also unlikely DRS would sue you for a debt you may not owe or they cannot validate. However, debt collection agencies are known to have summoned debtors to court and garnish wages after a default judgement. Contacting an attorney BEFORE this could possibly happen would be a smart move. We’ve helped thousands of consumers fight back against unscrupulous debt collection harassers. Can you help me file a No Fee Lawsuit against Debt Recovery Solutions?

Absolutely. You can sue a debt collector. Here are some Sample Complaints

In 2010, a judge in U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York, refused Debt Recovery Solutions’ motion to dismiss Puglisi vs. Debt Recovery Solutions for alleged violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Electronic Funds Transfer Act. According to the judge’s decision, the customer supposedly owed a debt to Verizon and agreed to a payment plan where DRS would draw two payments from his bank accounts on specified days. The consumer requested that the initial withdrawal be delayed by one week, but alleges that DRS withdrew the cash anyway, causing insufficient funds fees to be evaluated. The customer then lost his job and requested the debt collection agency if he could negotiate the time of the next withdrawal. He explained that he was told that they would not touch his accounts, but withdrew the cash anyhow. The judge rejected the debt collection agency’s argument that the customer did not state a claim under the FDCPA, in addition to its other arguments, and allowed the case to proceed.

Debt Recovery Solutions Calling You?

Federal laws protect you. The Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) regulates the behavior of collection agencies by prohibiting actions such as the use of abusive or threatening language; harassment; or the use of false or misleading information to collect a debt. The FCRA regulates how collection agencies and creditors report delinquent debts to credit reporting agencies. Additional consumer protection laws include the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA).

Can I sue DRS for harassment?

Yes. If you want to enforce your rights, or recover money for violations — you need to sue. Federal laws provide individuals like you with a means to seek monetary damages in court. For example, the FDCPA allows consumers who have been violated to recover damages of up to $1,000, plus attorney fees and court costs.

I have 3 seperate collection accounts for the exact same amount showing up on my credit report from DRS. I have tried mailing them and asking them to explain what the debt is since I have no idea! They kept calling me over and over, threatening to garnish my wages. I tired to dispute these charges also and they are still on my credit report.

When I was in bootcamp over the summer of 2019 I have had an account opened under my name with a debt of $1702 and it is effecting my security clearance
I’ve never had any debt of $1702 in my entire life and believe I’m a victim of some sort of fraud but have no clue how to go about resolving this
I tried proving the debt wasn’t mine to them but it was to no avail and I didn’t get them to stop harassing me until o changed my phone number and service provider

Debt recovery solutions bought an debt account and started harassing me almost daily with multiple calls. I fought with them for over a year because they could not prove that the debt was mine. I sent in proof that I have lived in delaware since 2011 and they still refused to delete the debt from my credit and they refused to stop harassing me. I asked time and time again to please stop calling me. I started over and over again the debt was not mine and that someone else used my name. All they sent me was an itemized bill that had my name and my father’s insurance information. They could not provide a signature or Id that was used on the date of service. Also they put on my credit the date of service that was way inaccurate then what they told me over the phone the debt was from 2012 and in the state of Pennsylvania. The kicker they told me it was for a birth of my child and my child wasnt even born yet. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the debt collectors just passed my call to each other. I proved the debt wasnt mine over and over and yet they still harrassed me to try to collect on it. I was getting calls numerous times throughout the day almost daily.
